BROOKFIELD, Ill. —
Concord junior Jake Lilly and junior cornerback Riyahd Richardson have added to a slew of postseason honors by being selected to the 2012 Don Hansen Football Gazette NCAA Division II All-Super Region One first team.
The first-team and second-team all-region selections advance to a national ballot from which the 2012 Don Hansen NCAA Division II All-America team will be named later this month.
Lilly and Richardson have also earned Beyond Sports Network All-America, Daktronics All-Region and first team All-West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognition. Lilly was also named the WVIAC's Defensive Player of the Year.
Lilly, a product of Bluefield High School, led the WVIAC in tackles for the second consecutive season. He finished the year with 126 tackles, 13 tackles for loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, 0.5 sacks and six pass break-ups.
His single-season tackle total was the third-highest in Concord history. A two-time All-WVIAC selection, Lilly enters his senior season ranked fifth for the Mountain Lions in career tackles.
Richardson totaled team-highs of five interceptions and 13 pass break-ups to go with 28 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery.
The junior standouts led a CU defense that ranked 14th in the nation in total defense, 11th in scoring defense and seventh in passing defense last season. Concord closed out the year by winning its final three games to finish with a 7-4 overall record and 6-2 mark in the WVIAC.
