CFL’s Alouettes sign Devine

MONTREAL — Former West Virginia University standout Noel Devine will look to continue his football career north of the border.

The Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League announced his signing on Friday among five other “import players” from the United States.

Devine, 23, played in the United Football League with the Omaha Nighthawks last season and had previously signed with the NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles as a free agent.

The 5-foot-8, 180-pound rusher had an explosive junior season with 1,742 all-purpose yards and 14 touchdowns.

He ended his four-year college career with 4,315 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns while averaging 5.9 yards per carry.
