Bluefield splits pair with Cumberlands

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Byron Carpenter fired in 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds, while Kearsten Marion tallied 20 points, dished out three assists and had five steals to lead the Bluefield College Ramblin’ Rams to a 76-64 Mid-South Conference win over Cumberlands (Ky.), Thursday night at the Dome Gymnasium.

Pierre Walters added 10 points for Bluefield and Devin Page snagged seven boards.

Benito Santiago Jr., son of the former major league catcher of the same name, had a game-high 29 points and 14 rebounds for Cumberlands.

Bluefield is now 9-17 and 4-15 in the Mid-South. Cumberlands is 18-11 overall and 9-10 in conference play.

Bluefield will conclude its regular season on Saturday at home against Cumberland, Tn.

Behind 19 points from Dace Bicane and 16 from Jackie Alexander, Cumberlands (Ky.) took a decision from the Bluefield College Lady Rams at the Dome Gymnasuim.

Ashley White was the lone Lady Ram to score in double-digits with 10 points. Janee Simmons had six rebounds for BC.

Bluefield fell to 15-12 overall and 8-11 in the MSC. Cumberlands improved to 18-10 overall and 11-8 in the conference.

Bluefield will conclude its regular season on Saturday at home against Cumberland, Tn.
