West Virginia to still play hoops on Big Monday

MORGANTOWN — West Virginia’s move from the Big East to the Big 12 won’t take away the opportunities it has had in recent years to play on ESPN’s Big Monday.

The Big 12 announced its schedule for the network’s showcase game, and the Mountaineers are included three times.

WVU’s first appearance of the season will come Jan. 28, when Kansas travels to Morgantown for the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

A week later, the ESPN crew will be back at the WVU Coliseum when Texas visits. The Mountaineers and the Longhorns have met three times in the past, with Texas winning two, including one in the Sweet 16 in 2006.

WVU’s final Big Monday appearance of the 2012-13 season will come on the road Feb. 18 when head coach Bob Huggins travels back to Manhattan, Kan., to take on his former school Kansas State. in Big 12 play.

All three tipoffs are scheduled for 8 p.m.
