Campbellsville sweeps Bluefield

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Vernon Payne was a real pain for the Bluefield Rams, scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds to lead Campbellsville to a 69-55 Mid-South Conference victory over the Rams on Thursday night at the Dome Gymnasium.

Byron Carpenter led Bluefield with 17 points and eight boards, while Pierre Walters added 13 points and six boards. Kearsten Marion scored eight points and Eric Swift contributed eight points and six assists.

Sean Smith tallied 13 points for the Tigers (12-7, 6-5), while Chris Smith added 12.

Bluefield (6-12, 2-9), which is 0-7 in 2013, will host Lindsey Wilson on Saturday.

Campbellsville 70,    Bluefield 61

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Daizah Kimberland scored 14 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, leading the Tigers to a Mid-South win over the Lady Rams.

Mary Jehlik added 13 points and Katie Allen tossed in 10 for the Campbellsville (17-4, 9-2).

Bluefield (13-8, 5-6) placed four players in double figures, including Teqa McNeal (19), Maryah Mazyck (14), Ashley White (12) and Monique Robson (11). White also dished out seven assists.

The Lady Rams, who have lost four of their last five games, will host Lindsey Wilson on Saturday.
