After enduring three close losses in a row, the Concord Lady Lions did not let it happen again in Monday’s road game at Alderson-Broaddus College.
Concord scored eight of the last 10 points of the contest to beat the Battlers 57-52.
Jolysa Brown picked up a double-double with a game-high 22 points and a game-best 13 rebounds for the Mountain Lions in the victory. Andrea Bertrand corralled 11 rebounds to go along with seven points. CU drained 20 foul shots for the game.
Erica Brooks scored a team-high 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Battlers in the contest. Cayla Rhodes added 10 points while snagging nine boards. Natalie Smith totaled eight points and four assists.
Concord returns to the Carter Center in Athens for a pair of conference games, both of them women’s and men’s doubleheaders.
On Saturday, the women play Ohio Valley at 2 p.m. and on Monday, Glenville State visits the Athens campus for a 5:30 p.m. game.
Men’s game: Concord 82, A-B 73
The men snapped a three-game losing streak on Monday night as well. The Mountain Lions overcame a five-point deficit at halftime by connecting on 54.5 percent of their shots.
Javaughn Acree-Manuel came off the bench to net a game-high 26 points in the victory. He was a solid 12-of-13 from the charity stripe.
Burnell Granderson and Corey Neeley each added 19 points in the win. Mike Boyd chipped in seven.
CU drilled 34-of-44 from the foul line in the game.
Kurklin Bohanon registered 24 points and seven rebounds in the loss for the Battlers.
