Bluefield State falls at Davis & Elkins

ELKINS — The Bluefield State women’s basketball team dropped a  79-71 decision, Saturday afternoon at Davis & Elkins College.

Shae Mebane led the Lady Blues with 20 points, her third straight game with 20 or more points. The Lady Blues also received double-digit scoring from Jenaya Abernathy with 13 points and 11 points from Andrea Hauser.

The Lady Blues (12-11, 10-10) return to action Thursday night when they host West Virginiaa State for Senior Night at 5:30 p.m.



Davis & Elkins 88, Bluefield State 75

The Davis & Elkins held off a second-half charge by the Big Blues to get the victory.

Treon Claiborne led Bluefield State with 24 points, Roy Cooper added 15, and Avery Holiday and Ryan Braxton tallied 10 apiece. Claiborne also had a team-high nine rebounds.

D’Quan Lynch took game scoring honors with 28 points for the Senators. Devin Miller added 20 points for Davis & Elkins, Shane Brown 14, and Igor Premasunac tossed in 12 points.

Lynch also had a game-high 11 rebounds and dished out 10 assists in the game.

Bluefield State is now 3-21 overall and 3-19 in WVIAC action.

The Big Blues host West Virginia State, Thursday, in their final home game of the season.
