Pair of BC soccer players garner awards

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Bluefield College freshman forward Erik Albarran (red jersey) has been named to the Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Albarran is the program’s first all-MSC selection as Bluefield joined conference this past summer. The Houston, Texas, native helped lead an offense that posted 35 goals, second most total in team history, and three more than it scored last year.

Bluefield College Junior Jefferson Watson has been selected to the NCCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Mid-East All-Region Team. Watson anchored the Rams defense in 2012, posting a 2.82 goals-against average and a .693 save percentage. The Woodbridge, Va., native recorded three shutouts, increasing his career total to six. “Jefferson had a great year in goal for us this season,” said head coach Peter Dryer. “The stats don’t tell the whole story, and I was happy to see him get recognition for his efforts.”
