BLUEFIELD, Va. —
Byron Carpenter and Andrew Wilson each scored 27 points on Friday night to lead the Bluefield College Rams to a 103-78 victory against the Riverhawks of WVU–Parkersburg at the Dome Gymnasium.
Wilson dialed up seven of 11 three-point goals on his home court and added five assists and two steals. Carpenter took 20 shots, converting 11. He also led BC with seven rebounds.
Deante Hallums and Kearsten Marion both added 17 points as the Rams broke a five-game losing streak. Hallums hit seven of his nine field-goal attempts.
The Rams (5-6) made 60 percent of their floor shots, including 10 of 19 from three-point range, while the visitors from the Ohio Valley were 1-for-11 from behind the arc. Bluefield College was 13 for 24 from the foul line.
On defense, BC forced 17 WVU-Parkersburg turnovers, nine of which were steals. The Rams led 51-32 at halftime.
Darrius Jenkins led the Riverhawks with 28 points while Keith Penn recorded 22 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
With the 25 point win, BC Coach Richard Morgan emptied the bench getting 11 players at least four minutes of action.
Bluefield remains at home this afternoon to take on another West Virginia opponent, WVU-Tech from Montgomery, before closing out 2012 with a pair of road games. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. today at the Dome.
