Walter Easley passes away

— Former WVU and San Francisco 49ers running back Walter Easley has died. A graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston was the first player to score a touchdown at Mountaineer Field in 1980.

He was a fullback on the 49ers’ Super Bowl XVI championship team in 1981 and in 1983 signed with the Chicago Blitz of the USFL. He finished his pro career in the USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers in 1984.

Easley was 55 years old.
