BLACKSBURG, Va. —
Alyssa Fenyn scored 13 points and dished out nine assists, leading Virginia Tech to a 71-68 win over Appalachian State on Wednesday at Cassell Coliseum.
Virginia Tech improved to 1-1, and will visit Michigan State on Saturday.
Monet Tellier added 12 points with six assists and a pair of steals for the Hokies, which lost its opener to Old Dominion 55-35 last Friday.
Freshman Taijah Campbell dropped in 11 points, pulled down eight rebounds and recorded a pair of blocks for the second straight game. Porschia Hadley rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points.
Anna Freeman led Appalachian State (1-1) with 36 points, including six 3s, to set a Cassell Coliseum women’s record. Courtney Freeman added 11 points, pulled down nine rebounds and dished out five assists.
