Hokies forward breaks foot bone

BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech basketball coach James Johnson says forward Marshall Wood broke a bone in his left foot in Saturday’s loss to Georgia Southern.

The injury will not require surgery, and Wood is expected to return later this season.

Johnson said Sunday that Wood has been playing with confidence recently.

The freshman from Rustburg, Va., has appeared in all 10 games for the Hokies (8-2), averaging 5.8 points and 4.5 rebounds per game.
