Volunteers prepare for tomorrow’s Community Christmas Tree party
BLUEFIELD — Despite the severe winter weather that disrupted travel and caused wide-spread power outages in the region, donors continued their support for the Community Christmas Tree, sending in an additional $475 to help support the party that is scheduled to get underway at noon on Tuesday.
Sponsored by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, the Community Christmas Tree program provides a gift bag filled with toys, fruit, a treat, a book, a pair of gloves and a toboggan to hundreds of area children each year.
This year’s party will be held Tuesday from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Bluefield City Auditorium on Stadium Drive.
Those who would like to contribute to the Community Christmas Tree program can mail donations to: Bluefield Daily Telegraph, c/o Community Christmas Tree, P.O. Box 1599, Bluefield, W.Va., 24701 or drop them off at the Daily Telegraph office on Bluefield Avenue. Checks should be made payable to the Community Christmas Tree Fund.
