BRUSHFORK — The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a single-vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Bluefield man shortly before noon on Sunday.
Roy Boyd, 38, of Bluefield, apparently died as a result of injuries he received in the accident that occurred at 11:50 a.m., on the Falls Mills Road about one-half mile east of the Virginia state line, according to Mercer County Sheriff Don Meadows.
“The victim was ejected from the vehicle, according to Deputy W.E. Rose who is investigating the accident along with Sgt. S.J. Cary,” Meadows said. “A female passenger in the vehicle said the driver may have swerved to miss something on the road and lost control of the vehicle.”
Meadows said that the female passenger was transported to a local hospital where she was treated and released.
The accident remains under investigation, according to Meadows.
