Altercation reported at Woodrow Wilson

Beckley —

A Thursday afternoon fight between two Woodrow Wilson High School students escalated to the point that one of the juveniles crashed through a plate glass window in the hallway near the school’s office, according to Beckley Police Chief Timothy Deems.

“We received a call at about 1 p.m.,” Deems confirmed. “Officer Johnny Wall was on the scene quickly and broke it up.”

Wall is the police department’s Prevention Resource Officer assigned full-time to Woodrow Wilson High School, Deems said.

The student who fell through the glass received lacerations and was transported to an area hospital by EMS.

The school will handle any disciplinary action, Deems said.
