WELCH —
Police in McDowell County are investigating a fatal stabbing.
Officers with the Welch Police Department responded to a report of a domestic argument Saturday night at a residence on Central Avenue in Welch. When the officers arrived on scene, they found Billy Haney Jr., 34, of Welch, deceased at the residence, according to Welch Police Chief E.A. Muncy.
Muncy said Shonna Rife, 42, of Welch, was arrested and charged Sunday night with second-degree murder in connection with Haney’s death.
Both Haney and Rife resided at the residence, and “were boyfriend and girlfriend,” according to Muncy.
The investigation continues.
