PRINCETON —
A Mercer County jury has found a man charged with the 2009 death of a Bluefield resident guilty of first-degree murder with mercy, according to Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Janet Williamson.
Corey Christopher Samuel, 29, now being held at the Southern Regional Jail in Beaver, was convicted of first-degree murder with mercy in the September 2009 shooting death of Dwayne Steptoe, 27, of Bluefield. Steptoe died of a single gunshot wound outside a Bluefield nightclub.
Samuel faces a sentence of life imprisonment with the possibility of parole in 15 years, but there is no guarantee that parole will be granted, said Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ash.
Samuel was tried in Mercer County Circuit Court before Judge William Sadler.
