TAZEWELL, Va. —
An arrest has been made in connection with a 2009 double homicide at a Tazewell County pizza parlor.
Tazewell County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Christopher Dean Looney, 32, of the Belfast community of Russell County. He is charged with two counts of capital murder. He was arrested on Wednesday. He was arraigned this morning in Tazewell County.
He is the only son of Valerie and Harvey Looney.
“This crime has been a dark cloud over this community for almost four years,” Commonwealth Attorney Dennis Lee said.
Looney is being held at the Southwest Regional Jail in Tazewell.
Valerie and Harvey Looney were found dead on March 30, 2009, at the Pizza Plus in Claypool Hill. For the past four years, the investigation of the murders has been one of the sheriff’s office’s most pressing matters.
More details to come.
