Mrs. Lena Marie Ramey

CLAYPOOL HILL, Va. — Mrs. Lena Marie Ramey, age 83, of Golden Age Retirement Home, Claypool Hill, Va., passed away Sunday February 7, 2010 following a brief illness.

Born in Tazewell County, Va., she was the daughter of the late Riley and Rosa Strouth Smith. She was a member of the Salem Primitive Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Ramey; one infant brother, Hubert Smith; one brother, John Smith; two sisters, Annie Lowe and Flo Smith; and one son-in-law, Mackie Jamison.

Mrs. Ramey is survived by three daughters, Janet Brewer and husband Ronald of Claypool Hill, Va., Linda Jamison of Richlands, Va. and Carol Glover and husband Guy of North Tazewell, Va.; four sons, Larry Ramey and wife Bertha of Glenwood Springs, Colo., Clinton Ramey and fiancée, Carol Runyan of Abingdon, Va., Roger Ramey and wife Gay of Graham, N.C. and David Ramey and wife Teresa of Roanoke, Va.; one sister, Lucy Jewell of Golden Age Retirement Home; nine grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday Feb. 11, 2010 at the Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va. with Elder Junior Davis and Elder Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Cemetery at Claypool Hill, Va.

The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va. from 6-9 p.m. on Tuesday and after 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday with a service at 7:00 p.m. with Elder Robert Whitt and Elder Ronnie Beavers officiating.
