MAYBEURY — Richard “Ricky” Todd, son of Mattie Todd and the late Julius Todd, Sr., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at Hospital University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, Pa. after a long illness.
Born January 2, 1962 in Welch, W.Va., he was a lifelong resident of Maybeury. He was a 1981 graduate of Northfork High School. Ricky loved fishing, hunting and football. He especially loved the San Francisco 49ers and watching the WVU players who had entered the NFL.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father, Julius Todd, Sr. in 1980; his brother, Nelson Todd in March 2009; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Mattie Todd of Burlington, N.J.; five brothers, Essie Joe Smedley and wife Marian of Cincinnati, Ohio, Julius Todd, Jr. and wife LaTanya of Atlanta, Ga., Leon Todd and wife Mary of Centreville, Va., Scottie Todd and wife Joyce of Willingboro, N.J., Russel Todd and wife Kristina of Lidingo, Sweden; five sisters, Janette Saunders and husband William of Lanham, Md., Naomi Aikens of Burlington, N.J., Roberta Barnes and husband George of College Park, Ga., Lorene DeBerry and husband Jack of Simi Valley, Calif., and Barbara Todd of Burlington, N.J.; sister-in-law, Teresa Davis Todd of Maybeury, W.Va.; one aunt, Lenora Todd of Newark, N.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A homegoing service will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of God, Maybeury W.Va. with the Rev. Dr. Leon Todd and the Rev. Harold P. Calloway officiating. Burial will follow at the Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Route 20, Bluewell, W.Va. Friends may call on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 from 6 to 8:00 p.m. at the Widener Funeral Home, Northfork, W.Va. and at the church one hour prior to services.
