NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. — Luther “Dike” Mitchell Young, age 64, of the Dry Fork community in North Tazewell, Va. died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at his home. Born January 1, 1945 in Tazewell, Va., he was a son of the late Reece Mitchell Young and Ollie Mae Honaker Young. He was a member of the Tazewell Moose Lodge #198 and was an avid Nascar fan. He was a loving father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Young; one son, Daniel Mitchell Young; three brothers, Jackie Young, Earl Young, and James Young.
Survivors include two sons, Donnie Young and wife, Gina of Salem, Va. and Mike Young and wife, Stephanie of Cowen, W.Va.; three daughters, Missy Hill and husband, Dwayne of North Tazewell, Va., Angie J. Young, Amy Hill and husband, Donald, all of Richlands, Va.; two brothers, Roger Young of Harrisonburg, Va. and Cecil Young of Pennsylvania; three sisters, Kathleen Turner of Tazewell, Va., Faye Taylor of North Tazewell, Va., and Sarah Simpson of Maitland, W.Va.; thirteen grandchildren, Jim Hill, Zach Hill, Josh Hill, Gabriel Hill, Emily Hill, Justin Young, Kevin Young, Tyler Young, Jerrod Young, Dylan Young, Cameron Young, Amber Young and Jenson Young; one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Hill.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with the Rev. Charlie McGlothlin officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:00 noon on Sunday, December 27, 2009.
