Mr. Jack W. Puckett

PINEVILLE — Mr. Jack W. Puckett, age 79, of Pineville, W.Va. passed away Saturday December 19, 2009 in a Welch, W.Va. hospital following an extended illness.

Born in Tazewell County, he was the son of the late Walter and Barbara Vandyke Puckett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ann Grey and Clara Asbury; and two brothers, Joe Puckett and John Ed Puckett. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family in his generation.

Mr. Puckett was a retired Engineer with N & S Railroad with 42 years of service. He was a U.S. Marine Corps Korean Veteran. Mr. Puckett umpired little league baseball for 20 years in Pineville.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Patty Pruett Puckett; one daughter, Carol Lynn Puckett of Pounding Mill, Va.; one son, Randall Puckett of Beckley, W.Va.; two grandchildren, Corey Puckett and Cayla Puckett; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Jack W. Puckett will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday Dec. 23, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel at Cedar Bluff, Va. with the Rev. Barry Absher officiating. A private burial will follow in the Pruett Family Cemetery at Pounding Mill, Va. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Va. from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
