Roscoe Raines

RICH CREEK, Va. — Roscoe Raines, age 77, of Rich Creek, Va., went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, W.Va. Born December 23, 1931 at Lindside, W.Va., he was the son of the late William and Cora Willis Raines. Mr. Raines was a retired employee of the Eastern Vault Co. in Princeton, W.Va. He was a member of the Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church where he had served as Deacon for several years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin stillborn daughters; and three brothers, Arthur and Lacy Raines and infant brother, Richard Raines.

Survivors include his wife, Violet B. Miller Raines; three daughters, Nancy Lane and husband Bob of Shawsville, Va., Debbie Hicks and husband Jerry of Pearisburg, Va., and Norma Brown and husband Larry of Blacksburg, Va.; one sister, Wanda Crawford and husband Frank of Peterstown, W.Va.; twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2009 at the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funereal Home Chapel, Peterstown, W.Va. with Pastor Roger Hatfield officiating. Burial will follow at the Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rich Creek, Va. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009 at the funeral home.
