Lewis Edward Lambert

PRINCETON — Lewis Edward Lambert, 93, of the Eads Mill Road, Princeton, died peacefully Monday, November 30, 2009 at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in Beckley with his family by his side.

Born May 30, 1916, at Iaeger, he was the son of the late Blaine and Mollie Cline Lambert.

Mr. Lambert was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He had served in Central Europe, and was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Ribbon, the American Theater Service Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.

For many years, Mr. Lambert was a coal miner and a member of the UMWA. After being injured in the mines, Mr. Lambert worked for the Council of Southern Mountain. He was an ordained Minister with the Jesus Name Church under the guidance of the late H. Richard Hall.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha Virginia James Lambert; a son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Lewis and Peggy Lambert; along with one granddaughter; and several brothers and sisters.

Survivors: His loving and caring wife, Mary Jane Gooslin Hypes Lambert; children, Billy Ray Lambert and wife Millie, Edith Lambert Matney and husband Fred, Larry Edward Lambert and wife Lana; stepchildren, Jessie Hypes and wife Dora, Peggy Cox and husband Vernon, Sharon Thompson and husband Tommy, Sheila Harry and husband Donnie, Carl Hypes and wife Sharon; 13 grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 19 stepgreat-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Ronnie Lambert, Don Lambert, Callie Dotson.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastor Eddie Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
