Oma Cleo Groseclose Lusk

ROANOKE, Va. — On Thursday, November 26, 2009, Oma Cleo Groseclose Lusk, 84, went to be with our Lord in Heaven. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was known to her family as “MawMaw.” She was born in Boissevain, Va. on July 4, 1925 and lived many years in Princeton, W.Va. She left Princeton 25 years ago and moved to Roanoke, Va. to be closer to her family. Cleo always put others before herself. Now she can rest, pain free while smiling down on each of us from Heaven. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Earnest H. Lusk; parents, James B. and Sarah Groseclose; three sisters; and four brothers.

She is survived by daughters, Patty L. Maze and husband G. Kevin Maze of Roanoke, Va., Norma J. Carroll and husband William J. Carroll of Delmar, N.Y.; grandson, Timothy J. Carroll of Albany, N.Y.; granddaughters, Paige Mitchem and husband Michael B. Mitchem, Lindsay Polfelt and husband Theodore “Teddy” Polfelt, all of Roanoke, Va.; great-grandchildren, Natalie Paul, Taylor Polfelt, Tyler Mitchem, Bryson Mitchem, and Mallery Grace Mitchem, all of Roanoke, Va. Her great-grandchildren brought her much love and happiness in her last years, and she will be greatly missed by them. They enjoyed her warm, soft hugs upon each visit. Cleo also leaves behind Phyllis Hardy, niece; and Raymond M. Dalton, nephew, and wife Edna Dalton; and Mickey Wilson, nephew, and wife Donna Wilson and their wonderful families. She also cherished many other nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 12:00 p.m., 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, W.Va. The burial will be at Monte Vista Park Cemetery. The Reverend Brian Checchio will be conducting the services. We will miss her dearly, her homemade meals, crocheted blankets, and weekly lunch outings. Her gentle, motherly ways were cherished by us all. There is no doubt her Thanksgiving Day was spent rejoicing in Heaven.

Online condolences may be sent to www.mem.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to Roselawn Funeral Home, 450 Courthouse Road, Princeton, W.Va.
