Lena Mae Miller Thompson

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Lena Mae Miller Thompson, 91, passed unexpectedly on November 22. Lena was born in Oakvale, W.Va. in 1917, and graduated from Pocahontas High School. She served as a nurse in the U.S. Army during World War II and met her husband, Frank, while stationed at Fort Benjamin Harrison.

"Nanny” was preceded in death by her husband in 1974, and is survived by her two daughters, Jennifer Kelly and Julie (Mike) McCormick; four grandchildren, Lisa Kelly, Michael, Brittany and Matthew McCormick; and two great-grandchildren, Tristan and Julian Gibson.

Memorial service is planned for Friday, November 27, 10:00 a.m. at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church at 4601 North Emerson. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
