Harold Lee Minnix, Sr.

WALDO, Fla. — Harold Lee Minnix, Sr., born April 7, 1939, passed away on November 20, 2009 at home from a brief illness. Born in Montcalm, W.Va. to L.T. and Ivory Kinzer Minnix, he resided in Waldo, Fla. since 1970. He was the owner of Harold’s Auto Body Shop and Sales since 1977. He was a member of Waldo Lodge #10 of FAM and serviced in the U.S. Air Force from 1957 to 1961.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Garland Edward Minnix and Donald Wayne Minnix; and two grandchildren, Harold (Trey) Lee Minnix, III and Katie Lynn Minnix.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Minnix of Waldo; a brother, Randy (Dawn) Minnix of St. Augustine; five children, Linda (Doug) Minshew of Bell, Sheliah (Tommy) Parker of Hawthorne, Tamera (Gary) Parker of Hawthorne, Harold Jr. (Nancy) Minnix of Waldo and Michael Minnix of Hawthorne; ten grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Rhandi Harris and Ron Rose; and five stepgrandchildren; in addition his best friend, the Rev. Robert Mitchell.

Services were held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, 725 NW 23rd Ave., Gainesville, Fla. A visitation was held from 2 to 3 p.m. at Forest Meadows Funeral Home, prior to the 3:00 service. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, Nov. 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with the Rev. Joey Thomas officiating. Burial will follow. Friends may call Friday morning from 9:30-10:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.
