ANAWALT — Willard Lee Hicks, 67, of Rt. 584 Box 433 Anawalt, W.Va. passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Va. Mr. Hicks was born on June 18, 1942 in Wilcoe, W.Va. to the late Glen Hicks and Grace Cleary Hicks. He had been a resident of McDowell County for life and had been a logger by profession.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Hicks; one brother, Harold Hicks; and two daughters, Sandra Lee Hicks and Helen Martha Hicks.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Helen Martha Littleton Hicks of Anawalt, W.Va.; five daughters, Brenda Lee Hicks Presley of Bluewell, W.Va., Margaret Ann Hicks of Christiansburg, Va., Tammy Lee Kolarich and husband Charles of Radford, Va., Goldie Ann Hicks of Pageton, W.Va., Ellen Ann Claus and husband Thomas of Sanford, N.C.; one brother, Kenneth Hicks of War; one sister, Patsey Tunnell of War, W.Va.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; special friends, John Dale, Rocky Sanson, Angela Presley, Jimmy Stacy.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. Burial will follow the service at the Hicks Family Cemetery in Big Creek, W.Va.
Friends and family called at the Craven-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, W.Va. on Saturday, November 21, 2009 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons and special friends John Dale, Rocky Sanson and Angela Presley.
