BLUEFIELD — Betty J. Johnson, 72, of 4119 Brierwood Lane, Bluefield, W.Va., died Wednesday November 18, 2009 at a Bluefield hospital.
Born April 30, 1937 in Bluefield, Va., she was a daughter of the late Claude and Blanche Stowers. Mrs. Johnson was a lifelong resident of Bluefield and was a homemaker. She attended Thompson Chapel United Methodist Church where she was a member of the U.M.W. She enjoyed handcrafts, cross-stitching and needlework.
Survivors include her husband, Claude Johnson of the home; one daughter, Sandra J. Fariss and her husband Richard of West Point, Va.; two sisters, Claudine Dickenson of Morgantown, W.Va. and Rheta Spence and her husband Artie of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday November 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Monte Vista Park Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Reed officiating. Those wishing to attend the services are asked to meet at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions, if desired, be made to the American Lung Association, P.O. Box 3980, Charleston, WV 25339-3980, or to one's favorite charity.
