TAVARES, Fla. — Jasper Donald Puckett, Sr. passed away on Friday, October 23, 2009 in Seminole County, Fla. at the age of 71. He was born on March 17, 1938 in Thompson Valley, Va. to the late Greever and Mae Elizabeth Puckett. Jasper had moved here to Lake County in 2000 from Charlotte, N.C. At one time, he had worked for NASA as a subcontractor on the space program, and most recently had retired as a millwright from a printing machine manufacturer.
Jasper is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Fay Puckett of Tavares, Fla.; two sons, Jasper D. “JD” Puckett, Jr. of Sugar Grove, Va., and Mark W. Puckett of Tavares, Fla.; two daughters, Thelma Elizabeth “Beth” Rector of Dandridge, Tenn., and Rhondia Widenar of Sugar Grove, Va.; one stepson, Ronald Rouse; one stepdaughter, Judy (Humberto) Delgado; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Ronald Puckett of Birmingham, Ala.; four sisters, Jeanetts (Paul) Gibson of Charlotte, N.C., Judith Suits of Marion, Va., Freda (Carson) Evans of Tazewell, Va., and Nadine Cleary of Melborne, Fla.; and two close friends, Bob Mathena and Michael Cleary.
A memorial service for Jasper will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. in the Bradley Funeral Home in Marion, Va. Burial has taken place in Leesburg, Fla. The family has suggested memorial contributions in Jasper's honor be made to the church of your choice.
