Lillian Joan Allen Winter

BUTLER, Tenn. — Lillian Joan Allen Winter, age 88, 412 Moody Rd., Butler, Tenn. passed away Friday, November 6, 2009 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born in Welch, W.Va., a daughter of the late Frank and Sessie Blankenship Ranzo. Mrs. Winter was of the Methodist faith and the Baptist faith. In addition to being a homemaker, she was a jewelry store manager in Welch and was honored as the Outstanding Sales Lady for 1963.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Winter was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Winter; two brothers, Jack Allen and Douglas Allen; and one sister, Geneva Coleman.

Mrs. Winter is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Barbara Winter, Elizabethton; two grandchildren, Chris Winter, Jonesborough, Lorie Ann Winter, Ohio; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Robinson, Vienna, W.Va.; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Lassak, Roanoke, Va., JoAnna Allen, Huntington, W.Va.; and special friends, Wanette Odom and Debbie Campbell. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

The funeral service for Mrs. Winter will be conducted at 7 p.m. Monday, November 9th in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace in Elizabethton, Tenn. with the Rev. Dwight Basham officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday in the chapel prior to the service.

The graveside service and interment will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 10th in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton, W.Va. Everyone is welcome to meet the family at 12:55 p.m. Tuesday at the cemetery for the services. Honorary pallbearers will be Dallas Odom, Tom Ranzo, Eddie Ranzo, Sonny Lassak, Charles Odom and her special caregivers at Ivy Hall Nursing Home.

Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Memorial Presbyterian Church, 100 East F. St., Elizabethton, TN 37643.
