TAZEWELL, Va. — Kenneth Lane (Kenny) Sluss, 58, of Tazewell, Va., died Wednesday, November 4, at Tazewell Community Hospital. Born September 19, 1951 in the Mudfork area of Tazewell County, Va. he was a son of the late Wade Clinton Sluss, Sr. and Audrey Johnson Sluss. Kenneth enjoyed many good years at the Cumberland Mountain Community Services Facility in Wardell, Va. due to the exceptional services of the staff and Sandy Kiser. During the later part of his life he was lovingly cared for by the staff at Heritage Hall Health Care in Tazewell, Va. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Twila McBride; two brothers, Marvin Carroll Sluss and Randal Sluss; sister-in-law, Jean Sluss.

He is survived by his sister-in-law and caregiver for the last 28 years, Opal Sluss of Tazewell, Va.; five brothers, Wade Clinton Sluss, Jr. and wife, Norma of Johnson City, Tenn., Ruphas Sluss of Dublin, Va., Garnet Sluss and wife, Mary of Fincastle, Va., Albert Jack Sluss and wife, Jane of Denham Springs, La. and Orville Sluss and wife, Brenda of Christiansburg, Va.; one sister, Darlene Riney and husband, Pat of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; additional sister-in-law, Hannah Sluss of Knoxville, Tenn.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, Va. with Johnny Elmore officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Tazewell, Va.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, November 5, 2009 from 6:00 until 8:30 p.m.
