DORAN, Va. — George C. Perry Smith, age 86 of Doran, Va., passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009 in a Grundy, Va. hospital. Born December 17, 1922 in Doran, Va. he was the son of the late Boone Smith and Maude May Smith. He was a United States Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Horton Smith; one son, Dennis “Snuffy” Smith; two brothers, Arch Smith and Jim Smith; and one sister, Margaret Nicewander.

He is survived by one daughter, Elaine Osborne and husband, Curtis of Grundy, Va.; one granddaughter, Kelly T. Stacy and husband, Ricky of Apex, N.C.; two grandsons, Jeremy Smith and wife, Dana of Richlands, Va. and Austin Horton Smith of Raven, Va.; three great-grandchildren, Lauren Elaine Stacy, Robert Laiden Stacy and Jaci Lauryn Smith; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel in Cedar Bluff, Va. with the Rev. John Aldrich, Jr. and the Rev. Dennis Wimmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Va.
