Wayne Thomas “Oscar” Ratliff

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Wayne Thomas “Oscar” Ratliff, age 69, of Bluefield, Va. passed away Friday, October 23, 2009 in a Bluefield area hospital following a lengthy illness.

He was born in Jewell Ridge, Va. and was the son of the late William Kermit and Darcus Belcher Ratliff, former Jewell Ridge natives. Oscar had worked as a Machinist for Thistle Foundry in Bluefield, Va. and was of the Presbyterian faith. He had graduated from Richlands High School and went on to attend King College. He was a loving father, brother and grandfather whom will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Francis Ann Ratliff.

Those who survive him are his sons, Wayne T. Ratliff, Jr. of Bluefield, Va., Gregory L. Ratliff and wife Marcie of Pocahontas, Va., William Scott Ratliff of Pocahontas, Va.; sisters, Brenda Ratliff Zervas of Kingsville, Md., Barbara Ratliff Bowers of Pocahontas, Va., Rebecca Ratliff Patrick of Rosedale, Va.; brother, William Ratliff of Essex, Md.

Upon the request of Oscar Ratliff, no public services will be conducted.
