James B. “Jim” Khatib

NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. — James B. “Jim” Khatib, age 51, of North Tazewell, Va. died Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Tazewell County, Va. Born January 16, 1958 in Richlands, Va., he was a son of Bashir Nasib Khatib of Kuwait City, Kuwait and Harriet Ireson Webb Harper and husband, Dixon Harper of Hickory, N.C. He was a graduate of Bluefield College and received his BS degree in Business Administration. Jim worked for Crescent International in North Charleston, S.C. and was active in the Lutheran Church in Goose Creek, S.C. He moved to Tazewell in 1999 and had worked for Acme Markets, Ramey Motors, and Lowes of Claypool Hill. He currently was working as a manager for K-Mart at Claypool Hill, Va. He attended the North Tazewell United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, J.C. and Stella Ireson.

Survivors in addition to his parents, include his former wife, Sherry Khatib of Tazewell, Va.; daughter, Jasmin Harrrington and husband, Matthew and son, James B. Khatib, Jr. all of North Tazewell, Va.; stepson, J. D. Mullins of Tazewell, Va.; two sisters, Amy L. Webb of Louisville, Ky. and Marsha L. Webb and husband, Jeff of Crestwood, Ky.; two grandchildren, Sean P. Dillon and Devante B. Dillon; three nieces, Ashley Smith, McKenna Webb and Haley Webb; and special friend, Billy Ray Witten

The family will receive friends at the Khatib residence, 104 West Riverside Drive, North Tazewell, Va. from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 24, 2009. Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be directed to The Lions Sight Foundation of Virginia, 501 Elm Ave., SW Roanoke, VA 24018.
