George M. Peoples

NEWTON, N.C. — George M. Peoples, 78 of Newton, N.C. departed this life on Friday, October 2, 2009 at Fry Regional Medical Center. He was born on August 26, 1931 in Monte Valley, Ala. to the late Sailor and Georgia Peoples.

He resided in Newton, N.C. for five years, but was a native of Maybeury, W.Va. for 50 years where he was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bluefield, W.Va. under the Rev. Charles Collins.

Mr. Peoples was an employee of UMWA in which he retired after 43 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Peoples; one daughter, Louvenia Eaves; four sisters, and four brothers.

He leaves behind to cherish his memories: Three daughters, Yozetta (Mike) Cunningham of Newton, N.C., Della Ward of Newton, N.C., and the Rev. Mary Mosley of Bluefield, W.Va.; three sons, George Peoples (Shander) of Conover, N.C., Morris Peoples (Lynn) of Columbus, Ohio, and Herbert Peoples of Canada; 34 grandchildren (one deceased); 60 great-grandchildren (four deceased); and 54 great-great-grandchildren; one special sister-in-law, Louisa White of Keystone, W.Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Bluefield, W.Va. with the Rev. Charles Collins officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, W.Va.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service.
