Thursday Newcomb Cantrell

BLUEFIELD — Thursday Newcomb Cantrell, of Rt. 1 Box 211-D Bluefield, W.Va., passed away on Saturday, October 03, 2009 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, W.Va.

Born on August 15, 1928 in Huff Creek, she was a daughter of the late James and Barbara Ann Rose Newcomb. She had been a resident of Princeton since 1998 and attended the Church of God. She was a homemaker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel Cantrell; a son; six brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include children, Wallie Cantrell and wife Cathy of Coal City, James Cantrell and wife JoAnn of Fort Branch, Welch/Pineville Road, Carol Stuart and husband John of Summerville, S.C., Judy Robinson and husband Lee of Princeton, Edward Cantrell and wife Melissa of Princeton, Helen Goodman and husband Thomas of Lynchburg, Va.; eleven grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; one sister, Della Hughes of Bybee, Tenn.; one brother, Pedro Newcomb of Iaeger, W.Va.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with the Rev. Herbert Cook officiating. Burial will follow at Woodalwn Memorial Park in Bluewell with grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
