Bertha Jean Footo

WILLIAMSON — Bertha Jean Footo, 77, of Williamson, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at the Pikeville Regional Medical Center in Pikeville, Ky.

Born November 1, 1931, in Williamson, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William M. Adkins and Alice Lena West Adkins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Footo; and a sister, Margaret Gibson.

Jean was a member of the East Williamson Baptist Church and she was a member of the WMU.

In earlier years, Jean was employed as a cook with the Mingo County Board of Education as a school cook. Jean’s life revolved around her home and family. Jean enjoyed life. She loved her family and she was so happy to share her life with each of them. She will be lovingly remember always.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Melissa (Daniel) Quizenbeury of Maybeury, W.Va.; two stepdaughters, Eulalia (Harry) Ross of Princeton, W.Va., and Linda (Mike) Runyon of Georgia; two brothers, William F. (Ann) Adkins of Williamson and Warner V. (Nancy) Adkins of Redford, Mich.; two sisters, Janice Sue Runyon, of Mento, Ohio and Thelma M. (Donald) Thacker, of Canada, Ky.; special nieces, Freeda E. Gibson, Vivian J. "Joy" Phillips; and great-niece, Chelsea Phillips; as well as several additional nieces and nephews, extended family members and friends.

Combined visitation and funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday evening, September 22, 2009, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. The funeral service will be begin at 7:30 p.m. with the Reverend Bob Norman officiating.

A graveside committal service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the Woodlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum at Bluewell, W.Va. Randy Rhodes will preside. Darrell Quizenbeury, Donald Thacker, Joseph Gibson, Clyde Blair and Bill Phillips will serve as pallbearers.

Weaver Mortuary of West Williamson is serving the Footo family.
