Whitey and Joyce Dowdy Thomas, of Jacksonville, Fla., will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Feb. 15, 2010. The couple was married on Feb. 15, 1960, in Tazewell, Va. A family dinner will be hosted with a trip to New Orleans, La. Whitey Thomas is retired from the U.S. Navy, and was a boy’s varsity basketball coach and athletic director and dean of students at Mooseheart High School. Joyce was a Bramwell cheerleader. The couple has four children and 12 grandchildren.
